Venice Food Tour with Lunch Tour Itinerary

Venice might be most widely known for its centuries of history and iconic canals, but the local cuisine is just as special. On this Venice Food Tour, you’ll get to wander the narrow streets and discover the taverns that the locals refer to as ‘bacaro’. These special eateries serve up a unique style of Venetian cuisine that includes a small glass of wine called an ‘ombra’ and a traditional style of side dish named ‘cicchetto’.

Across this 2.5-hour foodie adventure, you’ll have the opportunity to taste an eclectic range of local wines, risottos and desserts. And as we pay a visit to three bacaros, we’ll also pass by some incredible landmarks, including the Rialto Bridge and the Rialto Market, which we’ll take a gondola ride from as we cross the Grand Canal.

Join your expert guide at Campo San Bartolomeo and head to the stunning 13th-century Rialto Bridge. Next, we’ll head nearby to Erbaria Square where you’ll get an up-close look at the San Giacomo di Rialto, the oldest church in Venice. Also situated here is our first bacaro, where you’ll get to taste two delicious cicchetti and a glass of wine or spritz.

Next, we’ll head to the vibrant Rialto Market, the largest and most popular food market in Venice that dates back hundreds of years. Your guide will recount some of the market’s great history, while explaining many of the ingredients that form the basis of traditional Venetian cuisine.

We’ll then take part in one of the great joys of Venice as we take a gondola ride across to the other side of the Grand Canal. Once we arrive, we’ll wander through the bustling Strada Nova and into the Campo Santi Apostoli, where our second bacaro is located. This classic Venetian tavern provides high-quality wine and cicchetti that is simply mouth-watering.

Roaming by the Court of the Milion and the Marco Polo House, our final stop is a quaint bacaro that offers visitors a variety of fish, meat and vegetable cicchetti. Prepared by a team of Venetian chefs, enjoy a risotto with a glass of wine and a delicate dessert that’s paired with a sweet dessert wine.

Venetian cuisine represents some of the highest quality food that you’ll taste anywhere in Italy, and this wonderful Venice Food Tour provides you with three of the very best establishments to discover what makes it so wonderful
