Doge’s Palace Tour with Skip the Line Ticket Tour Itinerary

Doge’s Palace is one of Venice‘s most unmistakable buildings with its iconic Gothic architectural style and towering facade. It’s also one of the city’s most popular landmarks as travellers enter in their droves from the surrounding St. Mark’s Square. Featuring wonderful flora, fauna and biblical figures carved into the exterior arches, throughout much of its history, this place was known as the centre of political power within the Venetian Republic before it was transformed into a world-class museum.

Join your passionate art-loving guide and skip the line as our special tickets let you bypass the long queue. Inside, there are dozens of masterpieces that adorn the luxurious rooms that date back to the European Middle Ages – your guide will be sure to explain many in great detail. You’ll also discover that Doge’s Palace was once the residence of Venice’s supreme authority as our tour takes you on a journey back through time to learn about the fascinating history of this structure.

Another extravagant highlight is the Scala d’Oro – the Golden Staircase – which was constructed between 1530 and 1559 and features a striking stucco ceiling that served as a grand entrance for important figures to enter the palace’s upper floors. As we wander the corridors of the palace, we’ll eventually come to the elegantly designed Bridge of Sighs, which connects Doge’s Palace with the Venetian prisons underneath the building. These cells famously held prominent Italian author and adventurer Giacomo Casanova, who was sentenced to five years in prison before making an audacious escape. Inside this dark and gloomy space, you’ll experience first-hand the harsh conditions that the prisoners faced here.

Doge’s Palace remains one of Venice’s most impressive architectural landmarks with its lavish interior and simply beautiful facade. This tour presents an easy way to explore its remarkable history and get up-close to its magnificent collection of historical artefacts.
