Discover Venice Day Tour Itinerary

Discover the beauty of Venice in one easy tour as we set out to explore The Floating City’s most famous landmarks within 3.5 hours. Led throughout the day by an expert local guide, you’ll learn about the Venetian Republic and how it became one of the most powerful civilisations on earth, plus visit the likes of Doge’s Palace, the Golden Basilica and the former Royal Palace.

Our first stop is Piazza San Marco. This sprawling square is where many of the city’s key monuments are located, including the Campo Santa Maria Formosa, the Pantheon of Venice and the Great School of Charity. Wandering the nearby streets, we’ll also come across Marco Polo’s House and the Malibran Theatre before returning to Piazza San Marco via the bustling shopping street, Mercerie.

Our next stop is Doge’s Palace, a lavish structure that was once the political capital of Venice and the personal home to the city’s supreme leader. Skip the line as we head inside and admire its many highly decorative rooms – there are literally hundreds of masterpieces dating from the European Middle Ages. Explore the ancient passageways with your guide, there’s also the ornate Golden Staircase and the striking Bridge of Sighs, where you can experience the same walk that prisoners had to take as they were led into the Venetian prisons.

The next destination on this tour is St. Mark’s Basilica, which is undeniably one of the most impressive cathedrals that can be seen anywhere on earth. With its astounding religious history, your guide will provide some fascinating insight into this remarkable place. Don’t miss your chance to admire the gold mosaics, the marble floors or the Pala d’Oro, an extraordinary altar that’s widely regarded as the best surviving Byzantine enamel creation.

You’ll be happy to know that your entrance ticket also grants you access to a wealth of other nearby landmarks that you’re welcome to explore by yourself. From the Museo Archeologico Nazionale to the Monumental Rooms of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana and the Museo Correr, there are a huge variety of paintings, sculptures and coinage to explore.

Following your visit to Doge’s Palace, there’s the optional opportunity to visit a Glass Factory near Saint Mark’s Square. Free of charge and separate from our tour, this additional 20-minute journey is where you can see expert Glass Craftsman hard at work.
